Like many arts organisations we achieve huge things with a small core team. Our headquarters is a busy hub of activity with our workforce expanding to upwards of 20 people when projects are in full swing. Working for Arena, you can expect great conversations about art and ideas, the opportunity to grow professionally and expand your networks, and a friendly and flexible working environment. Available positions are listed below.
Seeking Expressions of Interest from Artists
Paid work for established and emerging artists
Arena are looking for expressions of interest from artists with a passion for working with children and young people. We need artists of all disciplines, including graphic artists, video artists, digital interactive artists, visual artists, writers, storytellers and many more. We will pay you while you train with us.
Must be available for 2 weeks of intensive training in Bendigo in January 2021. Once you are trained, you will be employed on a casual basis to work on a variety of projects with Arena throughout 2021 and 2022. You will work as an artist in residence at schools and in performing arts centres, including works such as interactive installations or augmented reality projects. You just need to bring your ideas and existing skillset and we will train you in many different areas of artistic practice. Much of our work takes place in and around Bendigo, so artists from Central Victoria will be prioritised, but we also do work in Melbourne and regularly tour around the country, so the ability to tour is essential.
We encourage artists with diverse life experiences to apply, including but not limited to d/Deaf and Disabled artists, First Nations artists, LGBTQIA+ and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse artists.

Bendigo artists – We want to hear from you!
Arena moved to Bendigo in 2018 and we are committed to working with local artists from Bendigo and the surrounding region.
We invite expressions of interest from performers, writers, production designers, lighting designers, sound designers, composers, digital artists, production managers, stage managers, set builders, costume makers, photographers and school workshop facilitators who would enjoy working with us.
We don’t hold open auditions but do keep CVs and headshots sent to us on file. If you’d like to work with Arena as a performer, please consider inviting Arena to productions you are performing in – your work is the best means of showcasing your skills to us.
When possible Arena takes on volunteers to assist on our productions and be involved in the ongoing work of the company. Volunteers can gain experience in arts administration, event planning, marketing, creative development and website management. Volunteers are supported and encouraged to learn new skills, develop industry contacts and have fun.
