Get pumped with Heart VR!

Heart VR is an interactive Virtual Reality performance that takes place inside a virtual beating human heart. The isolation and vulnerability latent in the VR environment contrasts with the intimacy and euphoric sensation of interacting with another person inside a human heart.

Heart is a work that confronts its participants to reflect upon the self, questioning what it is that exists at their centre. What it is that drives their interactions with others.

Working with the Faculty of Arts at the University of Melbourne, and collaborating with an ensemble of students drawn from 7 different Bendigo secondary schools, Heart continues Arena’s ground breaking work in stripping away the presumed uses of new technologies to create unique and revelatory performance outcomes.

Heart premiered in Bendigo from 13-18 March 2021. The longer term exploration for Heart will be in its potential as a virtual “touring” work.
