Arena Theatre Company is delighted to receive a Helpmann Award nomination for Robot Song, a show about a friendship between an 11 year old girl on the Autism Spectrum and a giant robot.
Established in 2001 by Live Performance Australia (LPA), the Helpmann Awards, named in honour of Sir Robert Helpmann and to commemorate his memory and achievements, recognise distinguished artistic achievement and excellence in the many disciplines of Australia’s vibrant live performance sectors.
Robot Song, currently on an Australian national tour, is nominated for Best Presentation for Children and Young People. This is Arena’s third Helpmann Award nomination.
Winners will be voted by Live Performance Australia members. This year, the Helpmann Awards will be held at Arts Centre Melbourne on the 14th July 2019.
Robot Song premiered at The Engine Room, Bendigo, in July 2018, shortly after Arena relocated from Melbourne to Bendigo to become the resident company of the Capital Venues & Events complex. Robot Song is on the 2019 VCE Drama and Theatre Studies play list with Victorian tour dates until 5 July 2019. For dates and details go to: https://arenatheatre.com.au/project/robot-song/
